    RANS charges are fees levied on all flights entering the airspace within the boundaries of Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu Flight Information Regions (FIR).

    RANS charges apply to all commercial and non-commercial aircraft including overflights, arrivals, and departures.
  3. How are RANS charges calculated?
    Charges are determined per flight and based on the aircraft's MTOW (RANS Charges).
    • Aircraft weight: The weight of the aircraft shall be the Maximum Certificated Take-Off Weight (MTOW) expressed in kilogram, as indicated on the Certificate of Airworthiness (CoA).

  5. How and when should RANS charges be paid?
    • RANS charges can be made via Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) / Bank draft / Cheque . Cash payment is not accepted.
    • RANS charges shall be paid in Ringgit Malaysia (RM) within 15 days of invoice issuance.
    • Payment is deemed received once it is reflected in CAAM’s bank account.
    • To access your invoice details, payment receipts, and aircraft movements, please login to RANS Portal using your credentials.
  6. Are there penalties for late payment?
    No, however failing to settle the payment on-time may affect the issuance of flight approval.
  7. Are there exemptions or discounts available?
    Specific exemptions may be available for certain categories of flights as outlined in the Civil Aviation (Aerodrome Operations) Regulations 2016 - Regulation 57 (Air Navigation Facility Charges).
  8. How can I dispute about RANS charges?
    If you believe a charge is incorrect, you may submit a written dispute to RANS Unit, CAAM via RANS Portal. Please include:
    • Relevant supporting documents ie. Flight Movement Records
    • A clear explanation of the discrepancy. Disputes must be filed within 14 days after the invoice date, as outlined in the AIC.
